This is not your parent's real estate market and hiring the next door neighbor to sell your home may not be in your best interest. Most real estate agents are self-employed working for a Broker, therefore, the advertising dollars spent to market your home is left up to the agent you hire. If you don't compare marketing plans, you may be hiring an agent who puts a sign in the front yard and hopes your home sells without having to spend any money. Take time and care in hiring an agent, it is important to know their experience and education.
